PAULisDEADMANnumber9 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - What is that Rolling Stones album? Was it a shelved unreleased album? Or is that some kind of obscure promo album?

ALEX96314 Says:

Feb 23, 2012 - is there a way that every music lover donated some money to him could raise the money needed to find a house for this archive ?

TelevisionTrash Says:

Jan 28, 2012 - ...they're still out there, they're just not in your face like they used to be in the good old days of music shops. Ya just gotta look around nowadays and you'll be amazed at how many "current" bands from the 90's on up to right now have put out a shit-ton of records while most people think vinyl is long gone!

TelevisionTrash Says:

Jan 28, 2012 - And a lot of current underground groups are puttin' 'em out, I'm sure there are at least 20 or more bands having their LP or EP pressed as I type this. Some record labels that are currently putting out vinyl are: Norton, Goner, Sympathy For The Record, Bachelor, Play Pinball!, Windian, Douchemaster, Bubbledumb, Randy Records, Going Gaga, Bomp, Rave Up, Burger, Dirty Water, HoZac, Dionysus, Cheap Rewards, Rob's House, Solid Sex Lovie Doll, Estrus, Telstar, Crypt, etc...

TelevisionTrash Says:

Jan 28, 2012 - As for right now, the underground Rock 'N' Roll groups are still putting out records , both 12'' and 7''. Records never went extinct, they just lost popularity in the mainstream due to CD's and all the stores stopped carrying 'em so you just couldn't easily buy 'em like you used to. But they've always been releasing records. I was buying records all throughout the 90's/00's by groups like The Mummies, The Oblivians, Devil Dogs, Daisy Chainsaw, Pooh Sticks, Bikini Kill, etc.

TelevisionTrash Says:

Jan 28, 2012 - As vinyl is makin' a HUGE comeback, a lot of DJ's in NYC still spin vinyl at gigs. Charles Gaskins is an amazing DJ who's got his own podcast called Mystery Action, as well as Howie Pyro, singer of the NYC 1979 Punk group "The Blessed" who is also a DJ that spins nothing but vinyl. Forget the mainstream, they'll eventually realize there's money in records again and start pressing Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga records.

Jan 25, 2012 - His collection should be put into a library. As musical reference and what he don't have people should contribute. Have it as an on going record collection. It would be the only collection of it kind.

petrirantanen72 Says:

Jan 3, 2012 - Wish I could somehow help him. That's collection of art of it's finest form and nobody gives a damn. Makes me sad too.

nmycon Says:

Jan 3, 2012 - Nah, I just visited his website. He takes collectors on a tour of the archives but they must guarantee they will buy at least $5000 worth of stuff, plus there's a breakdown of how many sealed or used LPs or singles you can buy...

ThinLippedDwarf Says:

Jan 3, 2012 - Who else wants to be the joint owner of the worlds largest record collection? 'nmycon' - are you saying that you know Mr Mawhinney would go in for a sale if 600 of us went in at $5000 each to make the $3m? If so then I guess its worth contacting him and we can start looking for partners - and yes I'm serious. I'm not sure how things work legally in the US with multiple owners of something like this but we could get something drafted up to say it can never be split or sold on etc?

ThinLippedDwarf Says:

Jan 3, 2012 - So how much does he actually want for it ? No sane person would want to split it up so rather than talk about how valuable it is we just need an answer to a very basic question. How much do you want for it? Then we can start to look at buying it between us? Or has anyone actaully got a few million spare? (of course not - right?)

nmycon Says:

Jan 2, 2012 - he requires a minimum purchase of $5000

SteevDragon67 Says:

Jan 1, 2012 - It would be a damn shame to lose such a musical treasure. The Smithsonian Institute, Library of Congress, or someone needs to preserve such an archive.

trguy95 Says:

Dec 29, 2011 - man if i was broke dead poor i would buy this in a heart beat

MaaaarrJ Says:

Dec 13, 2011 - If someone doesnt buy this collection soon this man will surely eat it.

metalfreak4677 Says:

Dec 5, 2011 - Vinyl will always surpass downloads.

stringbeanman Says:

Nov 14, 2011 - man if i had 3 million dollars i would buy that collection in a second. Its like he owns a peace of history and it makes me sad to see it go like that its awful. This guy knows where its at

NERDkingHERE Says:

Oct 16, 2011 - this man is truly sent from god, to preserve music that can not be lost, to lose any of those records is like loosing a part of time, and to lose that part of time will be just to hard to bare

frontfeeebs Says:

Oct 2, 2011 - everyone in the world is dumb except for this guy.
